This rare stone was rediscovered by Miguel Mendez in the Dominican Republic, the only place where the stone can be found. The name Larimar comes from a combination of Mendez’s daughter Larissa and the word Mar, meaning sea. Larimar is a volcanic stone, the result of activity that occurred millions of years ago. It is commonly believed to be a calming stone, offering many healing powers.

Turquoise has long been a symbol of abundance, wealth and luxury. Today it is said to bring good fortune, wisdom, tranquility, peace and protection.

Larimar, Turquoise and Sterling Silver Necklace, Larimar center stones are 5mm. The smooth Turquoise stones and Sterling Silver spacer beads are 4mm. The necklace is 16″ with a 2″ extender chain. I was so excited when I finally visualized what to create with the Larimar beads I have had in my collection for years. I also created a Silver bracelet with the same Turquoise beads.
